I love to be creative and this is my special spot to share with you all my adventures. I am a single mom who has a curious mind and an endless imagination. I am the poster child when it comes to ADD and creativity. I am constantly trying new things and learning to refine the skills I do have. I believe in learning something new every day so let's see what we can learn together today...

Christmas Chaos and Fun

There has been so many things going on and I am so sorry for not paying any attention to this blog. I am taking a break until the New Year and then I will devote some serious time to taking over the creativity/crafting world. I pray that all of you are blessed this Christmas and that the New Year brings you many blessings.

It's been so long...

Sorry I have been away for awhile...that is my issue with having a blog at all. I suck at updating it when I get busy or am having health issues (which is all the time). I am so excited that I have found a wonderful place to take a beginning jewelry making class - I can't wait for the fun. I have been experimenting with making a few pieces with polymer clay and silver jewelry findings (that is what they call the little pre-made doohickeys). Here are a couple that I have done. What do you think?

The wonderful thing about polymer clay is that it can be made to look like so many things. In the earring and necklace set I was striving for a surreal stone look, which I think I achieved. In the broach I was just messing around trying to use up some things that I had been playing around with. If you love these as much as I do take a look at my Etsy shop, that is where they are for sale at. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your crafting.

Wow life keeps happening

Hello all... I swear I have not forgotten about the blogoshpere but life has definitely interrupted. I ended up falling and spraining my right shoulder when I had my last seizure so I have had to let that heal for the last couple weeks. I am somewhat up and running again so hang with me. I am trying to finish a quilt and post it here so hopefully it will be done soon. I hope everyone out there had a wonderful Halloween and their kids brought them home a load of candy. Enjoy eating it until next we talk.

Fall Wreath

So I am always looking for exciting ideas to try. I found this wonderful wreath at Thrifty Decor Chick and thought I would have a go at it. I did not follow her dimensions and so mine is larger. I painted the background orange, thinking that would be the perfect fall color should any show through. Now I know better and suggest painting it a lighter muted color, such as gold, brown or tan.

I had bought three bags of fall leaves and just hot glued them willy nilly. Next time I think I will plan it out a bit better and take breaks where I will step back and look at it. When all the leaves had been glued on I was appalled   unsatisfied, so I decided to glue some acorns onto it.

That helped but it still was not complete. So I found some wonderful fall colored wired ribbon and added a bow. Overkill?? Maybe but sometimes I just don't know when to stop. The family gave it praise and thought it was beautiful. The only question that I kept getting about it was "Is that a picture frame?" due to the square shape.  I like it and it is now hanging on the front door. Next year I may make it a pumpkin shape, who knows?

Kids are walking germ labs

Oh yes... the FLU has struck. It came home laughing gleefully on the back of one child and has now taken down four out of the five of us. If I could stick my kids in a bubble or have a sanitation center that thoroughly degerms (yes another Melanieism) them as they walk in the door I would. I am not a healthy person - never have been. I have basically no immune system - and I do not say that in a joking manner. When my daughter got a slight cold for one day and then passed it on to me I had bronchitis for a month. So, when the FLU walked in through our doors it was laughing and clapping it's hands because it knew it had come to a place where it could run amok.   Friday was the worst but recuperation is taking it's time. The only upside - I have lost 9.6 lbs. in 3 days. Not the way I wanted to start to lose weight but I'll take it and run with it.

So, beware all of you fellow readers - that season of passing germs is here. May your house be missed. Give me a few more days and I will be up and going again. Can't wait to share some recent projects that I've finished.

A few of my projects

I must say that looking around my house I would label me a "crazy crafter". In one are I have my sewing/quilting area where I have no less than 3 projects going at once. Look to the dining room area and you will gaze upon my most recent creative interests - painting and polymer clay. It drives the family crazy that I am scrambling to clean up from my projects all the time so that we can actually use the dining table for the intended purpose of dining together as a family. My dream is to have my own space, be it a room, loft, garage, something, anything where I can actually set up all the projects I'm working on and leave them out until I am finished. Ahhhh to dream. But for now it will be a mix of stuffing things into drawers, onto a desktop, or into plastic containers. I'm sure many of you feel the same way. So, if you have any great ideas for how to make my life, and my families, easier please share your knowledge in the comment section. We can all benefit from the wisdom of other crafters. So here are a few of my projects that I have recently completed or am working on.

So many things I wanna try and buy...

I love looking at every ones blogs and gathering ideas and patterns. There is one site that is my favorite and always at the top of my list. They always have great inspiration, not to mention keeping me up to date with the latest materials coming out. I am talking about the amazing Sew, Mama Sew! site. Anyone who has visited that site can attest to the great blog entries there.  Their site is user friendly, and has never failed to give me either a pattern to run with or a new fabric line to add to my list of "Must Have". In this blogosphere (real word? it is in Melaniespeak) it is nice to have a site that is so well run and that gives something away every week. That's right, I said gives something away every week. Come on what more could you want?  Check it out and I think you won't be disappointed. If you have an amazing site that you think will inspire please let me know. There are so many that it is hard to get through the bad sometimes to find the gems.
